In the interest of new posts on the site, and just to update you all, I thought I woud......make a new post on the site and update you on the MxO emu status. *ahem* so...yeah...
So - as mentioned previously, the emu developers kept squabbling and the effort got split into 2 different efforts. Which really wasnt that big of a problem, in fact maybe the competition was a good thing at first as within a short time Rajkosto had a working test server. You could log on, see others, chat with others, he had a telelporting tool to move around. Even a "hyper-jump" of sorts - it was actually sort of the hyperjump without the graphic. So he seemed to be on a fast track to getting a more functional EMU, and alluded to the fact that he knew the way to working combat etc. It looked pretty promising. Downside - this is the forum that was just very unfriendly to anyone that dared ask a question about status or how to get the software running. Very unfriendly - but meh, thats the internet and whatever. *Update* It appears that the Dev stopped working on the EMU. I say appears, but no one is really sure as if now. The website went down about a week or so ago, then reports are that it was hacked, now Im told its back up, but you get virus warnings from antivirus when you try to go there (
http://mxoemu.info/). When I go there I get a white page that says "It Works!" but no virus attacks. No sure whats up with that....
*Summary* - not looking good from where I stand. Too bad, it seemed to be making good progress.
Morpheus was working on his own emu, which called for re-coding a lot of the work that was already done. However, he isnt supporting the standalone server he and Rajkosto had made together, so none of that stuff is available now that Raj's website is borked. Morpheus seemed to be working along fine...but things seemed to have slowed down. He was making fairly frequent updates, those have slowed. There is a note on the front page saying he is busy helping "loved ones" and busy with school. *update* As of right now, it doesnt seem like there is any development going on there either. The website (
http://mxo.hardlinedreams.com/ ) is up, and the erstwhile community relations guy, Valaro says things will be back on the move...soon.
*Summary* I think Morpheus is really dedicated to making this emu happen. Just hope that his real life allows him to. Ill be staying tuned, keep you posted on anything new that happens.
I still go onto the stand alone server at least once a week. Just being able to run around the slums and Richland is awesome. There is a way to get to International and Downtown, but it requires a lot of fucking around with folders and files. The instructions were in a post on Rajkosto's site, but I never copied them, which I now regret. Maybe if his site comes back safely Ill get that figured out.....
More as thing happen (or dont)
