Dude - the first multiple person server test is this weekend - TODAY. No gameplay, just multiple people to test chat, emotes, time of day synched for multiple people.

As of right now, all you can do is run around - no jumping/hyperjumping. No missions or abilities. Until this server test, all there was to do is log in run around and look at the city and listen to the music on a localhost server, alone. Sadly for me thats been great!

Anyhow, I'll post more here as EMU stuff changes

Hoping to get many of us there, stay posted!

Nice. So all I basically have to do is download and install the files I found on
the emulators site, install, and then I can jack in and run around the city?

Is it super laggy at this stage? I ll have to try it out!

So yeah, I have the client and server set up on my machine - I have been in the game solo many times (last night included) just running around. That gets tiring though, no superjump or hardlines to help move around. The Emu developer made a teleport tool, so thats very helpful. You run another exe, enter co-ords , and zoom, it takes you there. So you can get just about everywhere, including inside most buildings and clubs (doors dont work so you need to teleport into buildings). Also, you can get beyond district barriers - remember how you could get to the edge of a district, and it wouldnt let you hyperjump into that perfectly good looking street? Well now you can! Nothing to do there really, and most of the buildings have no doors or inside. In fact most of them only have 3 walls! its kinda cool.

I think its very promising. They have tackled many of the server side encryption/decryption problems, and seem to have a path to getting abilities and missions working. And they did have hyperjump working, but its been buggy, so they havent rolled it out to everyone yet.
There are many threads there about how it all has been going, they have been doing this since about June of last year. That gave them several weeks to play and log real server packets. This is how they can figure out what the server is doing.....Im amazed by these guys! Especially considering that they werent long time veterans of the game. Seems like the main Emu dev only played for the last couple of months!

As for super lagggy - well on solo its the same as it was in the real game for me! Every now and then it freezes to re-load an area assumablly. I havent connected to the test server yet today - Ill let you know!

It probably won't be laggy because it isn't connected to any hub server or server farm. In essence, you're playing MxO offline, and the most you'll be able to do is run around the city; no opening doors, no interacting with pretty much anything.

But, if what Sixxth says is right, then it'll soon be basic multiplayer and, yes, probably laggy. However, I'm definitely down for downloading it now. To be perfectly honest, I don't even want a huge server full of people like an MMO; I'd be happy to play with my friends and faction.

Last time I checked, it was somewhat of a complicated procedure. Is it still, sixxth?

Also, it's great to see you, dude! Don't let my forum name decieve you, I am, and always will be, the PBlade.

Edit: Well, seems Sixxth just beat me to the post with a much more comprehensive post than mine. So listen to him!

So, it *seems* complicated, but its actually not if you go through the steps carefully. Especially if you never uninstalled MxO. Here is the link to a very nice guide, I used it and from start to running around the city, it was a total of 20 minutes:

http://mxoemu.info/forum/thread-278.html

If you have questions, let me know. I might be able to help! One thing - step 1 of this is only needed if you dont have MXO still installed.

Also, this thread is the same directions, but no screen shots - and a little less wordy:
http://mxoemu.info/forum/thread-86-p...1.html#pid4421

Both of them are good. The first one helps explain the localhost server better.

Just do it, its NOT hard. Also, once done there are the teleport tools, and another tool so you can remake your RSI - they are here:

I dont bother with puppeteer....read through them and let me know what you think!

Its actually pathetic how happy I am to just get into the game and see the megacity again, hear the music, see the cars and bluepill people. Even alone......

The missus thinks Im obsessed and fucking insane - and thats probably right.

Good to see u too Pblade! Been waaaaay to long. And I'm all with you on the idea
of just having small servers to play with friends and faction. Everytime I think back
To COZ, as stupid as it sounds, it just represented a part of my life that was so enjoyable, and something that brought me so much joy. The game was great, but you guys made it perfect, and it just tickles me to death that your all still here

If this emulator offers even a possibility of having that back again, then count me in!
